Award in Financial Management (FM)

Programme at a Glance

The Award in Financial Management (FM) programme helps you build strong financial thinking, which is the foundation of every good business decision. You will learn how to decide which projects are worth investing in. You will also learn how to keep a company's cash flowing smoothly and how to work out what a company is really worth.

The programme starts by looking at the financial environment around businesses. This includes markets, institutions, and the economic forces that shape financial decisions. You will then apply this knowledge to practical tasks, such as appraising investments, comparing financing options, working out the cost of capital, and managing financial risk in changing markets. The focus is not on memorising formulas. Instead, you will learn how to support a recommendation with evidence, weigh up different options, and explain financial ideas clearly to people who don't work in finance. When you finish the programme, you will be ready for roles in financial planning, corporate finance, or financial analysis, or you can use it as a stepping stone to further study.
